The magnetic field of the rotating armature generator is fixed, while the armature is driven to rotate by the prime mover, and the three-phase AC current is delivered to the load through the slip ring and the brush.

 

The advantage of this type of generator is that the utilization rate of the iron core silicon steel sheet is relatively high, and the stator is the base which can be used as the yoke to save steel. The disadvantage is that the output capacity is limited, and the voltage cannot be too high. This is because the current of the armature winding is led to the external circuit through the connection of the slip ring and the brush. If the output current is too large, it will cause the slip ring. Excessive sparks are generated between the brush and the brush. If the output voltage is too large, the insulation between the slip ring and the brush is not easy to solve, so the voltage generally does not exceed 500v; due to the limited space occupied by the armature, if the number of winding turns is too much And the insulating layer is too thick, making it difficult to manufacture, which limits the increase in voltage and capacity; when the armature speed is high, due to the effect of centrifugal force and the increase in vibration, it is easy to cause damage to the armature, thus restricting the operation of the generator;
